Sometimes a patient needs to travel far: to a specialist hospital in another city, back to their hometown after treatment in Mumbai, or to Mumbai for treatment. Nurvo Ambulance arranges outstation and all-India patient transfers by road from Mumbai, with the ambulance type chosen to suit the patient.
Long journeys need more planning than city trips. Oxygen, rest stops, the route, the patient's documents and the handover at the other end all have to be thought through before the ambulance leaves.
When families choose an outstation ambulance
Common reasons include:
- Transfer to a specialist hospital in another city
- Taking a patient home to their native place after treatment in Mumbai
- Bringing a patient to Mumbai for advanced treatment
- Moving an elderly or bedridden relative to live with family elsewhere
- Long-distance transport of the deceased in a dead body van
For very long distances, or when the patient cannot tolerate many hours on the road, the doctor may suggest an air ambulance instead. We can discuss both options on the call.
Planning a long road journey
Fix the departure time with both the sending and receiving hospitals, so the team at the destination is expecting the patient. Long trips usually include short stops for the comfort of the patient and the crew, so allow extra time beyond the map estimate, especially through ghats, city traffic or at night.
The family member travelling along should carry water, light food, a charged phone and some cash, and keep the receiving doctor's or hospital's phone number handy. If the patient uses a medical device at home, such as an oxygen concentrator, tell us when booking so we can plan for it on the way.
Ambulance types for long journeys
The vehicle depends on the patient's condition. For long trips we usually send one of the following, with oxygen and supplies sized for the whole journey:
How booking and pricing work
Call 9930000788 with the pickup point, destination city, the patient's condition and a preferred date. We suggest the right ambulance type, check availability, and give you the charge on the call.
Outstation charges depend on the ambulance type and the total distance, so they are quoted per trip. Booking a day or more ahead helps for planned transfers; urgent transfers can also be discussed.
Coverage across Mumbai
Outstation trips start from anywhere in Mumbai, including Goregaon, Andheri, Borivali, Dadar and Chembur, and go to destinations across India by road. Before travelling, see our inter-city patient transfer checklist so you have the right reports and documents ready.
